Holds a PhD. in Linguistics and teaches Portuguese as a Foreign Language at University of Macau (UM), China. Researches in First and Second/Foreign Language Acquisitions, Acquisition of Portuguese by Atlantic Creole speaking communities, Grammar Theory, and Morphosyntax of European Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, African varieties of Portuguese and African Niger-Congo languages. Conducts researches on History, Anthropology and Ethnolinguistic of Angola and Sao Tome too. Acts in the PLE didactic-pedagogical areas as well. Coordinator of the “Libolo Project”, an international and multidisciplinary project focusing on policies for multilingualism and multiculturalism and observing the linguistic and cultural chain links connecting Africa to Brazil and to Caribbean America via the transatlantic African slave trade. “Libolo Project” is partially funded by the UM Research Centre and is a member of the UNESCO Chair on Language Policies for Multilingualism.
